Frankfurt equities close: Dax extends weekly loss

FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) – The Dax sealed a weak week on Friday with its third consecutive day of losses. A drop of 0.96 percent to 22,461.52 points caused the leading German index to extend its weekly loss to 1.9 percent. In the second tier of the German stock market, the MDax fell by 2.71% to 27,852.37 points on Friday. Its weekly loss thus amounted to 3.2 per cent.

Burdened by the announced US car tariffs, the DAX had lost the battle for the 21-day line as a short-term trend indicator the previous day. In addition to the tariff dispute, the weakness of the past few days was also attributed to profit-taking after the financial package rally had brought the leading index a record of 23,476 points the week before. It has since fallen a good 1,000 points away from this level.
