The news: Victoria has walked back expectations on when the Victorian Renewable Energy Terminal is expected to be up and running.
The numbers: The state had previously said that it planned to have the marine supply base, a central plank of Victoria’s plans to build a $100 billion offshore wind industry, operational by the end of 2028.
The context: In an update on the projects published by Energy Victoria, the state has removed reference of its previous plans to have the base running by 2028.
Rather, the report said that the government is “actively assessing the role of deepwater ports, including the Victorian Renewable Energy Terminal at the Port of Hastings, to support the construction and assembly of Victorian offshore wind projects.”
