US stocks open higher, ‘no shock and awe’

Edward Yardeni, President of Yardeni Research in New York, says there was ‘no shock and awe’ from President Trump in terms of immediate taxes on all foreign goods coming in to the US – as he had threatened in the run-up to the inauguration. He adds that Trump’s threat of 25 percent tariffs by 1 February is ‘negotiable’.
