Trailer carrying lithium batteries catches fire at gas station – NBC Chicago

A semi-trailer carrying lithium batteries caught fire at a gas station in suburban Morris on Thursday afternoon.

According to Morris police, firefighters and officers were called to the Love’s Truck Stop on Brisbin Road at approximately 12:30 p.m. for reports of a large fire.

The trailer, parked near the diesel fuel pumps on the south side of the truck stop, had caught fire, and firefighters were informed that the trailer contained lithium batteries.

Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control, and fuel pumps and the gas station’s parking lot were reopened by 4:15 p.m., according to officials.

There were no immediate reports of injuries, and there’s no word on what caused the fire.
