Top 48 ETFs in Canada for 2024

When I started writing about Canadian personal finance back in 2006, the Best ETFs in Canada was one of my first articles. 

It was also a pretty short list!

There was no such thing as a Canadian all-in-one ETF (also called portfolios ETFs) like there are today.

While a big part of my portfolio is still in Canadian dividend stocks, Canadian ETFs that trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange (in Canadian dollars) make up the balance.

With the growth in popularity of cheap, easy-to-use ETFs, has also come a growth in companies trying to cash in on using the acronym to describe all kinds of crazy investments.  Investing companies have taken what was a very simple concept – the idea of a plain vanilla index fund that easily traded on a stock exchange – and morphed it into all kinds of expensive odd mutations.
