Selects four projects to boost domestic solar manufacturing

The Department of Energy (DOE) recently announced $40 million in investments to develop America’s domestic solar energy supply chain. The majority of the funding will be distributed to four solar energy development projects that will focus on improving the lifecycle of solar energy systems, researching ways that solar panels and battery systems can last longer, and improve material recovery once the systems need to be decommissioned.

“The Biden-Harris Administration is investing in a clean energy future that’s built to last,” said Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm. “The U.S. has doubled annual solar installations over the past four years, and today’s announcement further supports manufacturers as they create more resilient solar energy technologies and maximize the life of their products.”
