Residents learn solar through GCSU course | News

Thirty-eight solar panels were installed in July at the Lamar F. Hamm Water Treatment Plant by volunteers who participated in a certificate course at Georgia College & State University. 

The free course was developed by Dr. Nicholas Creel, business law and ethics professor at GCSU, and Dr. Hasitha Mahabaduge, physics associate professor at GCSU. 

The course was created with a $100,000 grant from the Partnership for Inclusive Innovation, an organization whose mission is to “catalyze innovation, opportunity and shared economic prosperity through public-private partnership,” according to its website.

After being selected for the grant, Creel and Mahabaduge created a plan for their solar education course to teach how to design and install solar panel systems….
