North Platte City Council endorses ordinance relating to solar energy

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – The North Platte City Council discussed amending the city’s code of ordinances to add regulations for commercial solar farms or commercial solar systems Tuesday evening.

Gary Person, President and CEO of the North Platte Area Chamber and Development Corporation, spoke in favor of the measure, telling the council.

“A lot of developments coming forward today are asking about green energy and solar development. It’s something that is not going away and there is going to be more demand for it. We are already in an era where the energy supply is somewhat limited. Developers are looking at every type of partnership they can bring to the table. Public Power Districts are embracing that. We are seeing this with medium to large size projects, industrial, heavy commercial, and even housing subdivisions,” said Person.
