MidAmerican restores power to thousands in Des Moines after morning outages

In the event your home loses power, MidAmerican likely knows, but you are still encouraged to report any outages.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Thousands have had their power restored after storms rolled through the Des Moines area early Monday morning. Energy companies like MidAmerican actively watch the forecasts to try to plan the best they can, and that helps control the amount of time customers are left without power. 

“Every case is different, but we also have a sense of that ‘okay, it’s going to be 70 mile per hour winds, probably going to have tree damage.’ So, we’re then planning to have tree crews in those areas, in addition to line crews that can follow them,” said Tina Hoffman, the company’s vice president of corporate communications.
