There’s been a sharp decline in the number of residential solar installations so far this calendar year, not because residents don’t want solar panels on their roof but because reduced state incentives make it less attractive.
So far this year, permits for 6,487 residential solar projects have been permitted in the Central Valley including Fresno, Kings, Madera and Tulare counties, says Construction Monitor. That is less than half of the 2023 total through July of last year when 15,025 solar projects were permitted.
The busiest solar installer is SunRun, with a warehouse in Visalia, who has installed about a third of the units in the Central Valley this year.
