STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Both Hyundai and Kia have issued far-reaching recalls for several popular models of electric vehicles.
Kia has issued a recall for certain models of its 2022 through 2024 EV6 Crossover for issues with the vehicle’s Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU), with over 62,800 customers potentially affected, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
This component at fault is part of the electric car’s drive system, which can become damaged over time and not fully charge the vehicles’s 12-volt battery. This can cause a loss of power while driving and lead to a crash, according to documents filed with the NHTSA
Kia also stated that, prior to this, drivers might experience warnings that read “check electric vehicle system“ or ”stop vehicle and check power supply.”
