Investors are concerned US debt is ‘out of control’

Foord Asset Management has noticed signs in the US fixed income market that investors are growing sceptical about the US government’s ability to pay its debt.

‘People are getting concerned that the US spending and debt problem is a bit out of control,’ Foord fixed income portfolio manager Rashaad Tayob (pictured below) said during a webinar.

He said US long bonds have been the best trade, historically, during US rate-cutting cycles.
