ATLANTA, Ga. (WTOC) – Georgia Power is moving forward with five new solar projects across the Peach State, after receiving approval from the Georgia Public Service Commission.
The company was approved to certify utility-scale power purchase agreements (PPAs) that will supply power to customers and Georgia Power’s Clean and Renewable Energy Subscription (CARES) program.
The facilities will be built by third-party companies and consist of a total of 1,068 megawatts.
The five sites will be built in the following counties:
- Mitchell County: 25-year PPA with 260 MW of solar capacity.
- Coffee County: 30-year PPA with 200 MW of solar capacity.
- Wilkinson County: 20-year PPA with 183 MW of solar capacity.
- Jefferson County: 20-year-PPA with 200 MW of solar capacity.
- Laurens County: 20-year-PPA with 225 MW of solar capacity.
