Frankfurt stock market opening: DAX slightly higher, struggling to reach 24,000 points

Date:

FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) – After slight losses at the start of June, the DAX is attempting to break through the 24,000-point mark again on Tuesday. A few minutes after the start, it gained 0.27 percent to 23,995 points.

The MDax index of medium-sized stocks was almost unchanged at 30,774 points. The EuroStoxx 50, the leading index for the eurozone, rose by 0.3 percent.

Slight support came from small gains on the US stock market, which spilled over into Asian trading in the morning. This is providing some reassurance in view of the recent escalation in the trade conflict between the US and China. Positive impetus came from the news that both countries are likely to hold high-level trade talks in the near future. /ajx/mis
