Fire at Bardmore Terrace Apartments Ruled Accidental; Cause Was Lithium Ion Batteries – X101 Always Classic

The cause of the structure fire that injured two people at the Bardmore Terrace Apartments in the City of Cortland has been ruled accidental after a joint investigation by the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control and the City of Cortland Fire Department.

City of Cortland Fire Department Fire Chief Wayne Friedman told X101 News the fire was caused by Lithium Ion batteries for an E-bike that was inside the building.

Around 3 in the morning back on October 23rd, fire fighters from Cortland, Cortlandville, and Homer responded to an all hands fire at Bardmore Terrace Apartments at 6 ½ Park Street in the City of Cortland. Two people were injured as a result of the fire. McGraw and Virgil Fire Departments covered the City of Cortland in the event of additional calls.
