The Power Trends 2025 report says fossil fuel generators are being deactivated faster than new supply is coming online. It all comes as the State is working to align with its Climate Law, and adding energy-intensive data centers and manufacturing facilities.

The report says this means consumers face greater risks of potential interruptions of service and outages. It suggests keeping some fossil fuel sources and older renewable energy sources online as backup.
