As President Donald Trump and Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) slash through federal spending, the US debt clock went passed the $36 trillion mark. At the time of writing this story, the realtime digital display was at about thirty-six trillion, five hundred billion, six hundred eighty-five million, six hundred thousand dollars.
This comes days after the debt clock platform added a section for DOGE savings, which is close to $114 000 000 000 (one hundred fourteen billion). The data is yet to be verified by the White House. As of fiscal year 2024, the US debt was $34 trillion, according to the US Treasury Department. The figure was nearly as large as the US economy.
