Cortez community now accepts cryptocurrency from home buyers

A community of energy-efficient residences in Manatee County is now accepting cryptocurrency from buyers. Hunters Point, located in Cortez, is the nation’s first net-zero-energy single-family home community — and it now takes Bitcoin and other forms of crypto for home purchases, according to a statement.

Sarasota-based Pearl Homes, the developer of Hunters Point, partnered with crypto-to-real-estate platform RealOpen, which allows buyers to purchase homes using cryptocurrency, including Bitcoin, Ethereum and top stablecoins like USDC and USDT. Through RealOpen’s proprietary system, cryptocurrency is instantly converted into U.S. dollars.
