Corio, Prumo Sign Offshore Development MOU for Brazil’s Port of Açu

Corio Generation and port developer Prumo have signed an MOU to explore using the Port of Açu, north of Rio de Janeiro, for deployment of Corio’s future offshore wind projects. 

Corio is aiming to develop five offshore wind farms in Brazil, totaling 6 GW. Proposed sites for the fixed-bottom wind farms, each approximately 1.2 GW, have been registered in the country’s maritime areas. 

“To support the deployment of offshore wind farms in Brazil, it is critical that we have first-class port infrastructure for wind farm installation, operation and maintenance,”  says Jonathan Cole, CEO of Corio Generation.
