A Chinese green technology and wind power giant has made a significant breakthrough after revealing that its innovative two-blade onshore smart turbine prototype has completed over 500 days of stable operation.
World-leading clean tech company Envision Energy announced that the smart onshore wind turbine achieved a remarkable availability rate of 99.3 percent.
The prototype also recorded 2,444 hours of Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and reached 3,048 full-load equivalent hours per year, thus matching the output of traditional three-blade turbines operating at the same site.
The firm revealed that the innovative turbine proved itself a viable alternative to conventional three-blade systems, and successfully overcame design challenges that had historically hindered two-blade models.
