Canadian Stocks Decline Friday – MarketScreener

Stocks in Canada slipped Friday, as the S&P/TSX Composite Index fell 0.1% to 21554.86. The blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 held steady at 1,287.33.

Among large companies, Ballard Power Systems Inc. posted the largest decline, dropping 6.0%, followed by shares of China Gold International Resources Corp. Ltd., which dropped 5.8%. Shares of Hut 8 Corp. dropped 5.3%.

Fairfax India Holdings Corp. USD was the biggest gainer during the session, surging 9.4%, and Quebecor Inc. Cl A MV surged 9.3%. Atco Ltd. Cl II rounded out the top three movers on Friday, as shares surged 5.0%.

U.S. stock indexes finished mixed as the Dow Jones Industrial Average was flat. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 Index dropped 0.2%, and the NASDAQ Composite Index declined 0.2%.

On the currency front, the WSJ Dollar Index rose 0.1% to 100.35. Locally, the dollar was equivalent to CAD0.73, steady from the prior day.
