Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Toronto, the declined 0.93%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Nutrien Ltd (TSX:), which rose 5.45% or 3.81 points to trade at 73.72 at the close. Parkland Fuel Corporation (TSX:) added 3.85% or 1.27 points to end at 34.25 and Canadian Tire Corp Ltd (TSX:) was up 2.31% or 3.64 points to 160.93 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Orla Mining Ltd (TSX:), which lost 7.08% or 0.60 points to trade at 7.88 in late trade. NovaGold Resources Inc (TSX:) declined 6.60% or 0.33 points to end at 4.67 and Bausch Health Companies Inc (TSX:) shed 6.41% or 0.73 points to 10.65.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 629 to 318 and 87 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 0.25% to 11.80.
