Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Toronto, the lost 0.35%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Lithium Americas Corp (TSX:), which rose 13.38% or 0.76 points to trade at 6.44 at the close. New Gold Inc (TSX:) added 4.58% or 0.07 points to end at 1.60 and Lithium Americas Corp (TSX:) was up 4.03% or 0.25 points to 6.45 in late trade.

Biggest losers included SSR Mining Inc (TSX:), which lost 7.91% or 0.50 points to trade at 5.82 in late trade. Parkland Fuel Corporation (TSX:) declined 6.19% or 2.94 points to end at 44.56 and IAMGold Corporation (TSX:) shed 4.63% or 0.17 points to 3.50.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 505 to 422 and 108 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
