Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Shopify Inc (TSX:), which rose 8.68% or 8.91 points to trade at 111.61 at the close. Aritzia Inc (TSX:) added 6.55% or 2.30 points to end at 37.40 and Brookfield Business Partners LP (TSX:) was up 4.20% or 1.25 points to 31.03 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Interfor Corp (TSX:), which lost 4.27% or 0.90 points to trade at 20.20 in late trade. NuVista Energy Ltd . (TSX:) declined 4.23% or 0.44 points to end at 9.95 and Paramount Resources Ltd . (TSX:) shed 4.22% or 1.11 points to 25.20.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 590 to 362 and 99 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
