Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Toronto, the rose 1.05% to hit a new 52-week high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Canfor Corporation (TSX:), which rose 12.34% or 1.99 points to trade at 18.12 at the close. Interfor Corp (TSX:) added 11.89% or 2.65 points to end at 24.94 and West Fraser Timber Co Ltd (TSX:) was up 10.17% or 10.48 points to 113.53 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Cameco Corp (TSX:), which lost 5.99% or 3.72 points to trade at 58.37 in late trade. Denison Mines Corp (TSX:) declined 4.55% or 0.11 points to end at 2.31 and NexGen Energy Ltd. (TSX:) shed 4.20% or 0.39 points to 8.89.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 630 to 350 and 118 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
