Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Toronto, the gained 0.76%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Celestica Inc. (TSX:), which rose 7.05% or 5.08 points to trade at 77.16 at the close. First Quantum Minerals Ltd . (TSX:) added 5.74% or 0.93 points to end at 17.14 and SSR Mining Inc (TSX:) was up 5.13% or 0.33 points to 6.76 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Fortuna Silver Mines Inc (TSX:), which lost 13.84% or 1.12 points to trade at 6.97 in late trade. Great-West Lifeco Inc . (TSX:) declined 3.37% or 1.40 points to end at 40.16 and Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX:) shed 3.36% or 0.29 points to 8.35.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 590 to 354 and 112 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
