Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Toronto, the gained 0.15%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were BlackBerry Ltd (TSX:), which rose 10.75% or 0.40 points to trade at 4.12 at the close. SilverCrest Metals Inc (TSX:) added 10.17% or 0.76 points to end at 8.23 and New Gold Inc (TSX:) was up 9.85% or 0.20 points to 2.23 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Ballard Power Systems Inc (TSX:), which lost 10.25% or 0.46 points to trade at 4.03 in late trade. Celestica Inc. (TSX:) declined 5.39% or 3.35 points to end at 58.86 and Peyto Exploration&Development Corp (TSX:) shed 4.25% or 0.63 points to 14.21.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 508 to 455 and 101 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
