Lithium-ion battery manufacturing is dominated by one country: China. According to a report from analytics firm Rho Motion, in 2023, the large Asian nation accounted for more than 80 percent of global production capacity. Last year, the two largest companies building these energy-storage systems were CATL and BYD, two Chinese concerns, followed by LG Energy Solution. Combined, these three companies accounted for more than 60 percent of the total market. But what about battery recycling, is the story any different?
