TV and radio presenter Lauren Laverne has revealed that she has been diagnosed with cancer. Posting on her Instagram account on Wednesday morning, August 21, the BBC presenter confirmed the personal news alongside a photo of her in hospital and warned people to “get yourself checked”.
Lauren, known for presenting BBC’s Desert Island Discs and BBC 6 Music, said that she recently received a cancer diagnosis, which was “caught early and unexpectedly” during a screening test. She added that she was expected to “make a full recovery”. She also thanked the medical team, who had looked after her, as well as her family, friends and colleagues.
In the Instagram post, she wrote: “Right then, some personal news… I recently had a cancer diagnosis. It was (thank God) caught early and unexpectedly during a screening test and I am expected to make a full recovery. I’m in hospital at the moment and wanted to take this moment to say thank you.
