BBC’s Race Across the World paid tribute to former contestant Sam Gardiner during Wednesday night’s episode, following his tragic death at the age of 24. The memorial appeared as the credits rolled on the 4 June broadcast.

The tribute card, which appeared as the credits rolled on the June 4 broadcast, displayed a photograph of Sam alongside the message: “In loving memory of Sam Gardiner, 2000 to 2025.”


The 24-year-old, who appeared in series two of the BBC travel programme in the 2020 series, died earlier this week. His family confirmed on Sunday, June 1 that he had been killed in a car crash.
