FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) – A quiet end to the week awaits the German stock market. The Dax rose by a meagre 0.02 percent to 19,214.10 points in early trading on Friday. The MDax of medium-sized companies gained 0.06 percent to 26,760.64 points. The leading eurozone index EuroStoxx 50 fell by around 0.1 percent to 4,967.34 points.
The previous day’s US inflation figures had failed to move the leading German index out of its neutral zone between the record high in September and the psychologically important support level of 19,000 points. This Friday marks the start of the reporting season in the USA, which should show how the international economy is faring in the coming weeks. JPMorgan and Wells Fargo are the first US banks to have a look at their books./edh/nas
