Aktien Frankfurt opening: Dax recovers after weak Friday

Date:

FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) – After Friday’s profit-taking, German equities are being bought cautiously again on Monday. Despite a setback in Commerzbank shares, the Dax rose by 0.20 percent to 18,756 points in early trading. It was thus slightly higher than other index peers. The MDax, which includes mid-cap German shares, was 0.08 percent higher at 25,863 points. The Eurozone’s leading index, the EuroStoxx 50, rose by a similar margin.

Following the interest rate turnaround in the USA on Wednesday, the DAX climbed above the 19,000-point mark for the first time on Thursday, before the weekly gain dwindled to just a few points at the end of the week. Despite the new record of 19,044 points, the leading index initially failed to overcome the hurdle of the interim highs from May and September. However, it was able to hold above the 21-day line, which now stands at just under 18,660 points and is a popular short-term indicator./tih/stk
