Daylight saving time and Halloween are often front-of-mind in October, but Columbus Day 2025 is Monday, Oct. 13, a federal holiday that shuts down federal offices, banks and post offices, but it’s not entirely a stock market holiday.

President Donald Trump issued a proclamation Wednesday, Oct. 9, celebrating Italian explorer Christopher Columbus as “the original American hero,” while accusing critics of “vicious and merciless” slander, USA TODAY reported.
