The Dix Park Chapel now glows with the power of the sun. The Greg Poole Jr. All Faiths Chapel has a new 67.5-kilowatt solar system, which helps the facility run on renewable energy and reduce operating costs for years to come.
This solar project is expected to offset about 45 percent of the chapel’s annual electricity use. The effort adds to a growing list of sustainability features at Dix Park, including the new Gipson Play Plaza and the Sunflower Field.
The project advances Raleigh’s Community Climate Action Plan (CCAP) and goal of reducing community-wide greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent by 2050.
