Fund manager profile: Schroders’ Sue Noffke on prime time for UK equities

A fund manager’s tenure is a vital component of fund selectors’ research and it is not often you find someone that hasn’t moved from company to company.

But Sue Noffke has spent her whole career at Schroders, having started as an analyst in 1989. She initially covered insurance before expanding into retail and tobacco, and by the early ’90s she had moved into fund management, building up her track record and client profile.

In 2005, with five of her colleagues, including the recently retired Andy Simpson, she set up the Prime Equity team at Schroders in response to client demand.

“We redefined and finessed our investment philosophy to create the Schroder UK Prime fund, and a suite of products using the same approach.”

The UK Prime team are responsible for £5.8bn of assets. The £546.1m Schroder Prime UK Equity fund has around half of the strategy’s assets and is income-unconstrained. “It takes a…
