Frankfurt Stocks Open Steady as Ukraine Remains in Focus

FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) – The DAX made moderate gains at the start of trading on Tuesday. At 24,357 points, up 0.17 percent, Germany’s blue-chip index remains within sight of its mid-July record high of 24,639 points. To reach that milestone, however, it will need to break through the technical barrier around 24,500 points.

The MDAX was little changed on Tuesday, trading at 30,996 points. The Eurozone benchmark EuroStoxx 50 rose by 0.3 percent.

Following a meeting between US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and leading European politicians, another summit on the Ukraine conflict appears to be in the works. Trump aims to arrange a bilateral meeting between Zelenskyy and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin. Subsequently, Trump, Zelenskyy, and Putin would come together.
