And the vehicle they’re talking about? The next-generation BMW M3, which, according to BMW Senior Vice President Dr. Mike Reichelt, will be offered with an inline six-cylinder gasoline engine, and as an all-electric vehicle, possibly with four electric motors. Despite the differences in powertrains, both versions of the new M3, expected within two years, will look the same.
Said Reichelt, confirming the electric and gas M3 models: “We’re [going to] offer it with a new type of six-cylinder engine, because we understand it may be early for some committed M fans to make the switch. But we are convinced the fully-electric M3 is going to hit new heights and reach new target groups, because it’ll behave completely differently.”
