ED seizes cryptocurrencies worth about ₹17.20 crore

The Enforcement Directorate has seized cryptocurrencies worth about ₹17.20 crore following searches at six locations in Haryana in connection with an investment scam.

The cryptocurrencies were kept in multiple wallets owned and managed allegedly by “mastermind” Mahesh Kumar and his associates. “The search operations also resulted in seizure of several mobile phones which were found to have been used to access cryptocurrency wallets through multiple apps,” the agency said.

The ED probe is based on a First Information Report registered by the Haryana Police and a complaint received from a victim of the scam. “Mahesh Kumar from Hisar along with three accomplices, all from Bhiwani (Haryana) have been found to be involved in the racket,” it said, alleging that they lured…
