Pueblo, Colo. (KKTV) – Pueblo is just a few years away from losing a major energy and revenue source, the Comanche Plant.
The Comanche Plant is scheduled to close and decommission in 2031. Now some state representatives are considering potential options to replace this vital part of Pueblo’s Economy.

State Representative for House District 47 Ty Winter is Republican sponsors for this bill. Winter says he understands why people might be afraid of nuclear energy.
However, he tells 11 News passing this bill will not force local governments to introduce nuclear energy if they don’t want to. Building and running a nuclear power plant could bring a substantial amount of jobs to a community, potentially helping with Pueblo County’s loss of revenue and the technology has improved tremendously.
