FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) – After a strong start to the week, the Dax is already heading downwards again on Tuesday. The leading German index remains within sight of its October record and is looking for direction. The year-end rally hoped for by many investors is still a long way off.
In the first few minutes of trading, the Dax lost around one percent to 19,261 points. On Monday, it had once again run up against the hurdle of 19,500 points. The MDax fell by 0.8 percent to 26,788 points. The eurozone index EuroStoxx 50 fell by one percent.
Trading continues to be dominated by the reporting season, even if there are plenty of political issues on the sidelines. On Tuesday morning, Bayer in particular disappointed on the DAX with capped targets. The shares fell by a good 8 percent to the level of 2004./ag/zb
