A consortium of partners has unveiled plans to establish a hub for low-carbon hydrogen and carbon dioxide (CO2) management at Port-La Nouvelle, France, a project that promises to enhance the region’s role in the energy transition.
The initiative, marked by a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on September 20, 2024, involves collaboration between the Occitanie Region, DEME Concessions NV, Euroports and Teréga.
At the heart of this project is the development of port and logistics infrastructure aimed at accommodating future flows of clean molecules, including hydrogen and CO2, alongside other alternative fuels and low-carbon by-products.
The partners stated that they will work closely with local stakeholders to assess the feasibility and design of these infrastructures, ensuring alignment with European projects like the HySoW hydrogen corridors.
