TSX touches record high as mining stocks advance

(Reuters) – Canada’s main stock index hit a record high on Wednesday, lifted by mining stocks, as investors assessed domestic economic data and quarterly earnings from major banks in the United States. At 9:31 a.m. ET (13:31 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index was up 84.3 points, or 0.34%, at 24,523.38. (Reporting by Nikhil Sharma in Bengaluru; Editing by Vijay Kishore)
