FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) – The DAX is approaching the previous week’s record again in small steps. About two and a half hours before the Xetra start, the broker IG estimated the leading German index 0.2 percent higher at 18,880 points. On Thursday, it had reached a record high of 19,044 points. However, it was unable to establish itself above the old interim highs of May and September.
The US stock market also lacked fresh momentum following the Federal Reserve’s interest rate turnaround. The Dow Jones Industrial is struggling to make headway at record levels and the Nasdaq indices have failed to make any further gains. They are still a long way from their highs in mid-July./ag/jha/
