MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – The City of Madison released their updated 2024 sustainability plan Thursday that aims to cut pollution, prepare for impacts of climate change and improve environmental quality to support healthy Madisonians.
This plan was released following the Common Council’s unanimous vote on Aug. 6 to adopt the new goals.
These guidelines are the most recent addition to Madison’s long history of environmental advocacy. The city’s first formal sustainability plan was released in 2004.
“We cannot delay confronting the threat of climate change—our health, safety, and economy depend on swift and decisive action,” said Alder Nikki Conklin. “Madison faces increasing risks as temperatures rise and severe weather events become more frequent.”
