PINE BELT, Miss. (WDAM) – Thousands of Pearl River Valley Electric Power Association customers are without power following an issue at one of its substations.

According to a Facebook post on its page, the power association says nearly 1,700 customers are without power due to an equipment failure at its Lumberton substation.

PRVEPA says the outage is affecting 1,657 customers between Purvis and Lumberton at this time.

The power company says they are working quickly to restore power but it will be a lengthy outage.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” PRVEPA said in its post.

An estimate of when power could be restored has not been set at this time.
