Pete Buttigieg visits Kokomo to highlight clean energy

Date:

KOKOMO, Ind. (WNDU) – Former South Bend mayor and current Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg made a trip back to his home state on Friday.

Buttigieg made a stop in Kokomo to tour the construction site of a future EV battery manufacturing plant that was announced last October by Stellantis N.V. and Samsung SDI.

He highlighted how the rise in clean energy is reinvigorating manufacturing and creating jobs across the Upper Midwest while touting investments from the Biden-Harris Administration.

The visit to the Hoosier State comes after Buttigieg made stops at Great Lakes ports in Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

It also comes amid speculation that he could be Kamala Harris’ vice presidential candidate. However, he did not speak about campaigns and elections during his visit to Kokomo.

WNDU 16 News Now will have a full report on Buttigieg’s visit coming up tonight oat 6 p.m.
