Dow, Nasdaq diverge, volatility picks up: Market takeaways

Date:

Yahoo Finance’s Jared Blikre joins Asking for a Trend with Wednesday’s trading takeaways, beginning with the divergence in the Dow (^DJI) and Nasdaq (^IXIC) over the last five days. While the Dow has been under pressure, the Nasdaq has net risen, Blikre says. He attributes this change to a difference in Treasury yields and a shift in investors’ approach as they look for safety.

Blikre adds that volatility is picking up in the Vix (^VIX), which he calls “an official yellow flag,” and also trending up the bond market. He further discusses how BlackRock’s spot bitcoin ETF (IBIT) is overtaking Grayscale’s (GBTC) in total assets.
