Canada shares higher at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite up 0.74% By Investing.com

Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Toronto, the gained 0.74% to hit a new all time high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were New Gold Inc (TSX:), which rose 13.28% or 0.34 points to trade at 2.90 at the close. Ero Copper Corp (TSX:) added 7.61% or 2.30 points to end at 32.51 and First Quantum Minerals Ltd . (TSX:) was up 7.53% or 1.36 points to 19.43 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Tilray Inc (TSX:), which lost 7.24% or 0.21 points to trade at 2.69 in late trade. Bausch Health Companies Inc (TSX:) declined 4.36% or 0.42 points to end at 9.22 and Quebecor Inc Class B (TSX:) shed 2.87% or 0.90 points to 30.45.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 514 to 414 and 100 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
