Hong Kong stocks edged up at the open Monday, pushing gains into a tenth successive day, while mainland Chinese markets rallied as they returned from a long break to play catch-up with recent regional advances.
The Hang Seng Index added 0.07 percent, or 12.63 points, to 18,488.55.
The Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.89 percent, or 27.69 points, to 3,132.51, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China’s second exchange rose 1.36 percent, or 23.91 points, to 1,779.99.
