Canada shares lower at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite down 1.35% By Investing.com

Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Toronto, the fell 1.35%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Tilray Inc (TSX:), which rose 41.91% or 1.01 points to trade at 3.42 at the close. Restaurant Brands Intl (TSX:) added 3.54% or 3.57 points to end at 104.44 and Cargojet Inc (TSX:) was up 2.71% or 3.24 points to 123.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (TSX:), which lost 9.51% or 1.96 points to trade at 18.66 in late trade. NexGen Energy Ltd. (TSX:) declined 9.19% or 1.06 points to end at 10.48 and OceanaGold Corporation (TSX:) shed 8.02% or 0.26 points to 2.98.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 621 to 353 and 88 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 6.58% to 14.73.
